You’ll start with an exploration of the Sacred Valley, home to countless llamas and guinea pigs (great for little ones) and the adrenaline opportunities older kids crave. From there your family will continue to the magical Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, for a private tour that’s paced just right for your needs. Finally you’ll make your way to Cusco, for a double dose of culture and chocolate.

Highlights

  • A day to acclimatize in the Sacred Valley, ancient heartland of the Incan civilization. You will get up close and personal with llamas, monkeys and guinea pigs at an animal rescue center before visiting the Incan ruins of Pisac, perched on a hillside above the valley.
  • Visits to Moray, a circular terraced agricultural site, the Salinas salt pans (see how salt has been made the same way for centuries), and the massive ruins at Ollantaytambo.
  • Feast on (and help to prepare) a traditional pachamanca (‘earth oven’) lunch where all the food is prepared underground.
  • A spectacular train ride through the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes, the closest town to Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas.
  • A private guided tour of breath-taking Machu Picchu that’s tailored to your family’s needs. Take in the most important and fascinating parts of the ruins and learn how and why they were constructed.
  • A night at an exclusive hotel in Aguas Calientes, where adults can appreciate the finer things in life and the kids can swim and explore to their hearts’ content.
  • An opportunity for the nimble among you to hike to the top of Huayna Picchu, overlooking the Machu Picchu citadel, for a bird’s eye view of the ruins.
  • A private half-day tour of Cusco, the capital of the Incan Empire, including stops at the immense ruins of Sacsayhuaman (horseback riding optional) and a chocolate museum where you’ll get to make your own chocolate.
  • The opportunity to take a private tour of Lima’s key sites, including museums, markets and historic squares. To dine in one of the city’s world class restaurants or even try your hand at paragliding or surfing.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Pricing includes everything from your international arrival to your departure, with the exception of flights and a few lunches and dinners.

Welcome to Peru! Today is a transit day, and after a long flight you're probably looking forward to a nice meal and some relaxation. The Costa del Sol hotel is located right across the street from the airport and is the best choice for travelers connecting to Cusco. But if you arrive to Lima in the early afternoon, you’ll have the time to make your way to a hotel in the picturesque waterfront district of Miraflores. If you go for this option, one of our representatives will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.
